Today is March 1st!

Today is March 1st!
And I don't have to go to the academy today!
It is because March 1st is Korea's national holiday.
What kind of day is March 1st? It is a day to memorialize the March 1st Movement that occurred in 1919. As you know, Korea was a colony of Japan for 36 years in the past. In order to become independent, our ancestors chose a non-violent way called, "Independence Movement".
So, the whole citizen including the students and women held "Taegeukgi", our national flag and resisted against Japan. They shouted "Long live Korea!".
And this March 1st Movement was an independence movement that could show our country's will for independence to the whole world. Also, it influenced the small ethnic nationalist movements such as China's May 4th Movement and India's Swaraji movement.
I'm so proud of our ancestors and I think today's Korea is here thanks to them.
So, March 1st is a special holiday.
